A .500 winning percentage, a trip to the Section III playoffs, and 11 returning players from last year's roster has the East Syracuse-Minoa baseball team aiming for bigger and better things in 2015. ESM had walk-off wins against Marcellus in consecutive days, including an extra-innings affair at NBT Bank Stadium. The Spartans also went on the road to defeat rival and eventual Sectional III and NYS Regional champion Jamesville-DeWitt in shutout fashion in the game of the year, and the Orange and Blue boasted multiple All-League selections in 2014.
ESM competes in Class A as a member of the OHSL Freedom's American Division with Jamesville-DeWitt, Christian Brothers Academy, Oswego and Fulton. In addition to a home-and-home series with each division foe, the Spartans will also play crossover games with National Division teams Cortland, Chittenango, Homer, Mexico and Marcellus, including games at Onondaga Community College's sparkling new Baseball Complex, NBT Bank Stadium, home of the Syracuse Chiefs, and historic Doubleday Field in Cooperstown, NY, home of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. The Spartans are also scheduled to play 3 non-league games during a week-long trip to Virginia Beach in April.
